Arkarna's song really embodied the exact feeling I had when we were counting down to the day he would leave. I had sooooooo MANY plans for us but there really wasn't enough time. In as much as I would have loved to spend 24-7 during his last week home, but we both had work so it was the little time after work we had together. This was considering that I was also sharing the time left with family. Hmmm friends not really since the fly out was really low key amongst the people who really mattered to him (that includes me!).
So what things did we do together during the countdown to THE fly out?
Go to the gym together
We were at that point in our lives when we were both into "fitness" (a kwento later on will explain why it's in quotation marks). Both of us were then active members of Gold's Gym. So to maximize the last weeks of the paid membership, we "met up" at the gym (usually we'd see each other after taking a bath already). Even if I didn't work out (daming work e!), I made sure I showed up at the gym just to be with him…sweaty and all. Hehehe.
Enjoy smorgasbord meals together…SPLURGE!
Kaya nga in quotation ang fitness. Our tradition (I think that's why we didn't get to REALLY trim down) is that we would eat after the work out. Mejo na nenegate ang effect ng exercise. But I really wanted our last meals together to be special. It was actually around Valentine's Day that time. We don't really celebrate Valentine's because it is a capitalist holiday (oo sayang ang pera) BUT the situation was an exception to the rule…So I treated him to buffet dinner at Seven Corners Crowne Plaza. Take note, not just once…but TWICE! It was all worth it since it would be six months till I see him again. (Note: Photos above were actually taken during our Valentine / Despedida dinner # 1)
Go home together
We are actually one of the lucky couples who live quite near each other. We aren't neighbors per se like a house apart, but rather a hop and a skip away (actually 1 tricycle ride, 1 jeepney ride, and another tricycle ride apart…all in less than 10minutes). So after the gym or after our lamon sessions, we would go home together. And since we don't have our own cars (we still share with our families and we don't want to spend so much on parking and gas), we had to commute together. Ahhhh the bus ride home. I really wished the G-Liner would go as slow as it regularly would. But malas because we usually went home post-rush hour/s traffic. And yes, tears would sometimes trickle down my face (oo nakakahiya pero hindi ko mapigilan noh!) because I knew that these would be the last times I'd get to hold his hand…Sadness.
Sigh. Reminiscing makes me miss Dodong more.
Anyhoo, how about you gals: what did you do during the last days before fly out?
