Getting Zighy with it in the Desert: Part 2
Posted in Dubai Adventures on 10. Jul, 2011
Unlike Dodong, who did thorough research about our Six Senses Zighy Bay villa, I just took a quick peek and really did not know that I was about to be blown away by what was in store for us…
It all started with a little getting-to-know-you survey by the Six Senses Zighy Bay reservations team. It was the most extensive survey we’ve ever taken! They asked us about our dietary requirements (if we were any type of vegetarians – there are apparently a number of kinds), our music preferences, our preferred in-villa amenities and preferred activities.
The most boggling question of all was “what pillows did we prefer?” We were strangers to the different kinds of pillows. Do you actually know what a Linear Gravity pillow does? Care to enlighten us? But we made it a point to try them all. Hahahaha! Oh and they also asked us what scent to apply on our pillows. I guess it is the little details that count in a luxury resort and indeed they did.
From our 4×4 ride, we were welcomed by the staff of Six Senses Zighy Bay with cold towels (to quench our parched skin from the summer heat) and freshly made mango-grapefruit juice. We were then introduced to our personal butler, Mubarak (who unfortunately I wasn’t able to take a picture of), who was assigned to assist us and make our stay as pleasant as possible.
First, Mubarak told us that Six Senses Zighy Bay operated on what they call “Zighy Time”, which is an hour in advance versus the real time. It’s kinda like daylight savings time, so we can make the most out of our stay at the Six Senses. He then took us on a quick tour of the main area of Six Senses Zighy Bay. He showed us the Library (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week), the Gallery (souvenir shop / convenience store for your emergency needs), the Wine Tower (a restaurant and wine cellar), the Chill Bar, and the Main Pool.
We took a quick walk to Villa # 67. And lo and behold: our own Private Hideaway in Six Senses Zighy Bay. Here is a walking video tour of the villa:
Ok I thought that I took a video of the entire villa. Unfortunately I missed out some details which I will share in pictures, including the following:
The Indoor shower. Yes aside from the outdoor shower, Six Senses gives you the option to take a shower inside the villa. So no excuses for being late because of a single bathroom. Hehehehe!
The Gargantuan Bathtub. I think it could actually fit two caucasians. Dodong and I could maybe squeeze in another Asian person into the tub. Hahaha!
His and Her Wash Basin. Ok I have no issues if Dodong and I shared a wash basin since we do just have 1 washbasin at the flat. But this just feels so for the Richie Rich!
The Six Senses Zighy Bay team did an excellent job designing these villas. The villa is more than complete that you do not actually need to leave the villa to enjoy your stay at Six Senses Zighy Bay. Well, that’s what I think. I was happiest lounging around in the villa and taking a dip in our own mini infinity pool.
I was happy as a clam, but Dodong thought otherwise, of course. He wanted to maximize available activities. I will be sharing more of those in the next post…Tootles for now!
Love the distance,
