Opening the doors to the next chapter!
I've known this drama queen since I was in Grade 6. Boy, did she knew what she wanted in life. She was just one of those lucky people…
As early as grade 6 (when the rest of us just wanted to enjoy the moment and not have a care in the future), she wanted to be a dentist…and lo and behold! She is one now (Insert plugging for You and Your Teeth here.). Through the years, as we grew closer (a 9-day trip to Malaysia just made us super closey!) and more "mature" in our concerns (from getting away with our silly pranks in school – yes there were crazy ones! -, to passing the exams to graduating to earning money to saving for the future), I knew she wanted to get married and start a family. Last May 15, she finally got part 1 of her wish!

Bond strengthened by the distance
It was fate to have reconnected with Shelley during our high school reunion last December. She was recently married to her husband, Dave, who is in the US Navy based in Japan last October.
What is extra cute about this couple: Dave shares his version of their love story
And I think he is a gem since not all guys are like that. Hehehe. I know Dodong isn't! Well I think at least now he isn't. Hehehe. Dave writes extensively but I assure you it is worth your time
Here is Dave and Shelley's story on Loving the Distance….

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Ryan + Reena!
I really am proud of couples who have made it through the distance. So as part of this advocacy, I am featuring couples who would love to share their success in how they have celebrated the romance, nurtured the love and defied the distance in their relationship.
I was so happy to hear (well, actually see on Facebook) that an ex-officemate of mine finally tied the knot with her boyfriend (yes, now husband!) whom she was in a LDR with. I remember when we used to chit chat on how they made things work for both of them. And at that time, the idea of a LDR for me and Dodong was very remote so I couldn't relate as much.
Here's their story…

Again, I would like to support a dear blockmate and the other half of the respected long distance couple by inviting you all to CinemAlexis at Mogwai, Cubao X. This event will be on the 40th day of their passing unto the next life. Sheesh I can't even say the D-word.

Rest in Peace: Eggy + Nika (Photo c/o Happy David)
I was in a state of shock yesterday morning. A blockmate of mine and his Slovenian girlfriend were killed by robbers in their Times Street, QC home (a few blocks away from the late President Cory Aquino's home! Gasp!). I just couldn't believe that someone so young and so kind-hearted and so passionate about life just fizzled away from this earth in such a tragedy. Eggy (as he was fondly called because of the egg-like shape of his head), or Alexis to some, was one of those people who is genuinely kind, cheerful and down-to-earth (even if he had soooo much talent). I'm actually having flashbacks to my college days…
This entry is actually a tribute (as I actually blatantly state it in the title) to the couple whose love blossomed by loving the distance. The irony of it all is that it literally ended with them being physically together
But I do believe they are now together in Heaven.
I'd like to share with you Eggy's beautiful love letter to Nika in Slovenia (at that time) which was published in Rogue magazine…
